I have a feeling I'm not the only one who walks into a home store for one thing and somehow leaves with three things I didn't know I needed. Usually, at least one of them is a decorative pillow. 😉
It's funny how we do that with our homes. We rearrange the living room, find another little corner that needs something, buy a new candle, and convince ourselves that this is finally the year we're going to get everything organized.
And don't get me started on the things we keep because we might need them someday.
But here's something I've come to appreciate: making a home feel special doesn't always mean adding more.
Sometimes it's taking a few things away. Moving furniture around. Finally using that pretty serving dish sitting in the cabinet. Or realizing that the room you've been trying to decorate might actually be just fine as it is.
Our homes don't have to look finished all the time. They don't need to be picture-perfect or follow every decorating trend. They just need to feel comfortable, welcoming, and like a place we genuinely enjoy coming back to.
And if you're thinking about making a few changes before the holidays, start small. Look at what you already have before heading to the store. You might be surprised by what a little rearranging can do.
Although, I can't promise you'll walk past the throw pillows without looking. Some habits are hard to break.
Happy Friday! 🏡
